I leave for Vegas on Sunday, August 19th. In the spirit of my trip I’ve decided to do an XNA blackjack training game. It will give hints based on the user options, such as when to double down, when to split, card counting strategies and more. If the XNA team allows me to use the textures I’m making for the game, I will release them to the public for use in other card games people might want to make. Maybe after XNA 2.0 comes out I can setup a multiplayer card game pack.

Here’s a sample of the card textures. The design was shamelessly ripped off from the XNA website.

Finally got a copy of ZBrush 3.0 this week. If you don’t know what it is you should go HERE immediately. I haven’t used ZBrush since an older version about two years ago and even then I wasn’t that great with it. Here is the first thing I made while playing with Zbrush 3.0:

If you want to see the work of real artist I would suggest taking a look at THIS link.

Although this may not seem like a tool for games it is actually fantastic for creating very detailed normal maps from very low polygon meshes. The current price is about $500 USD for a single license, which isn’t that bad considering the prices of other modeling packages. Although you can do fair amount of modeling and rigging it lacks the utility of Maya, Max or XSI, so I would suggest using it in conjunction with those modelers instead of as a replacement.

Here is a demo video showing off the newest features of ZBrush:

Here’s an XNB model viewer application I made because I wanted to be able to double click on an XNB model file and see it without having to write some sort of test application. You can either drag and drop your XNB model files onto the exe or associate your XNB files with this EXE. Later version of this viewer will support for textures, shaders and other content types. This can be useful in conjunction with the XNA-Content-Builder program for allowing your artists to build and view their FBX file within the XNA environment. The controls are in the ReadMe included with the program. Enjoy
